Usually I am not one to fall victim to info commercials but, last night I thought this may all change. It was a commercial talking about a shake that you drink one a day and it will start knocking off the fat. The graphics and descriptions were brilliant. It was as if I was in some sort of trance watching it. The commercial talked about two weeks of free shakes and “if you call right now we will double it.”
So I am all into this by now so as hubby walks in room I tell him to give me the phone. He asked what I was doing and since I was so caught up into this commercial, I just said “SHHHHH”. I was trying not to forget the number. For some reason I have done that before and forgot the number but, since I got this one right I knew it had to be a good thing.
While on the phone and listening to all the free stuff I was going to receive, not to mention a shaker cup to mix more shakes if I decide to stay on the shakes after my four weeks. This seemed like an amazing product. The voice on the phone said, “at no cost to you lose those unwanted pounds.” If I remember correctly he even called it the “fountain of youth” formula. By this time I think I could have been asked anything and would have given the information freely.
Then after the voice completed its analogy on how this product is to good to be true a “live operator” came on the phone. She asked for my name, number, address and zip code. After confirming all the information was correct then the golden words came out. How would you like to pay you $19.95 one time processing fee? I said I thought everything was supposed to be free. She said it is “you pay nothing for the four week of shakes and nothing for shipping.” Then she explained that the “processing fee is not included in the price.” This is where the get you.
So I was totally let down after going through all of this and missing the end of the movie I was watching. There was only one thing left to do and that was “click”. Yes, that’s right I hung up in her face. This is just the reason why people do not call info commercials since there is always hidden charges they do not mention until they get you totally involved. I know in the commercial and on the phone I heard the word FREE about fifty or more times. Again I was lured in and for what? The product was suppose to be free.
When I woke up this morning not only did I feel like a victim of another scam I was hurt. I have tried everything out there to lose weight and I have even gone so far as to eat healthy but, have come to realize I was not supposed to be a small person. Looking at all my family and their makeup we are all big boned. The key for me is figuring out how to control it and not use it as an excuse. Some days are harder than others but, thank God I have a wonderful husband who does not judge me. He makes it a point to not touch my stomach while we are in bed or ask me to take off that hot long night gown. I guess until the fountain of youth is created for FREE as it should be than I must accept being big boned.
